A Northeast Iowa man, accused of sexually assaulting 2 teenage girls in Fayette County, has been sentenced to ten years in prison.


20 year old Wilmer Soy of Postville pleaded guilty Tuesday (April 23) to reduced charges of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, and Lascivious Acts with a Child. He had faced a charge of Kidnapping in the First Degree, which carries a life sentence.

Soy is accused of picking up two 13 year old girls in West Union on June 4th of last year. Soy was 19 years old at that time. Soy drove the 2 girls to a rural area of Fayette County, and sexually assaulted them. The girls were then returned to West Union.

On June 21st, Soy was taken into custody following the investigation, and held on $250,000 bond.

On Tuesday, Soy submitted the guilty pleas to sexual abuse and lascivious acts, in Fayette County District Court.

He was then sentenced to 2-ten year prison sentences, to be served concurrently.
