Police Thank Public for Quick Reaction to Missing Person
It was thanks to social media that a missing Oelwein woman was found within minutes of the announcement that she went missing.
At about 4:45pm Friday (June 2), the Oelwein Police Department requested assistance from the public, on locating 77 year old Linda Clayton, to check on her welfare. Clayton was last seen on May 28th, and was believed to be in the Waterloo area the evening of May 31st.
The request was posted on Facebook, and within a half-hour, authorities were notified that Clayton was located, safe and sound.
The Oelwein Police Department issued a "Thank You" to the public for the fast reaction to the Facebook post.
