Pickup Rear-ends Semi Near Lamont; Driver is Charged

A Lamont man is being charged with causing a traffic accident in rural Buchanan County.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened just before 4pm Wednesday (April 15), at the intersection of Highway 187 and 135th Street, south of Lamont.

A southbound semi driven by Steven Uhlenkamp of Edgewood, slowed for traffic, before making a left turn onto 135th Street. A southbound pickup, driven by David Wickman of Lamont, was following the semi, and was not able to stop in time to avoid a collision. The pickup slammed into the back of the semi-trailer.

There was considerable damage to the pickup.

No one was injured, but Wickman was charged with Failure to Stop in an Assured Clear Distance.
