Pickup is Not a Good Substitute for a Combine
A Northeast Iowa woman was not injured, but an area farmer's corn field took a hit.
Just before 2pm Monday (Oct.14), the Fayette County Sheriff was called out to a one-vehicle accident in the vicinity of 20th Street and Highway 187, north of Lamont.
A pickup driven by 71 year old Laura Jean Gress of McGregor, was headed north on 187, when the vehicle went out of control and into a ditch, plowing down several rows of corn.
Gress was not injured, but her 2011 Chevrolet Colorado had about $4,000 in damages.
Gress was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
The Fayette County Sheriff had assistance from the Iowa State Patrol, and Lamont EMS and Fire.
