Pickup Hits Farm Equipment, Driver Dies of Injuries

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a deadly accident in Delaware County.
It happened shortly after 7am Friday (Nov. 4) on 165th Street, just northeast of Manchester.

A pickup driven by 72 year old Eric Smith of Manchester, was headed west, when he sideswiped a manure applicator pulled by a tractor, driven by 20 year old Beau Vaske, also of Manchester.

The pickup ended up in a nearby ditch.

Smith died from his injuries. Vaske was not hurt.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff and Manchester Fire and Rescue.
