Pedestrian Killed By Semi in Linn County

Authorities are currently withholding the name of a person who died after being hit by a truck in rural Linn County.

It happened just before 5:30pm Thursday (July 18)on Highway 13, east of Cedar Rapids, near Bertram. The Linn County Sheriff received a report of a person struck by a vehicle on Highway 13.

Emergency workers found the subject in the roadway; the person was hit by a semi, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Names are not being released, until relatives can be notified.

Deputies shut down the right lane of Highway 13, southbound to investigate the accident.

The Linn County Sheriff was assisted by the Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, West Bertram Fire Department, and Area Ambulance.
