A pedestrian has been severely injured in a traffic accident Monday morning (May 24) in Johnson County.


It happened at about 8am at the intersection of Deer View Avenue and Jackson Street in Tiffin.

A car driven by an unnamed 17 year old Tiffin resident, crashed into a 60 year old Tiffin woman who was crossing Jackson Street on foot.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, for some unknown reason, the 2005 Ford Taurus struck the pedestrian near the intersection.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries, and was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

No names have been released yet, and the accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
