One Hurt in Semi/Manure Spreader Accident

An accident involving a semi and a manure spreader in rural Fayette County, has put the truck driver in the hospital.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened just before 6:30pm Monday (Nov. 2), south of Waucoma on Highway 18. 21 year old Austin Frieden of Elgin was driving the manure spreader westbound, when he started a left turn into a field.

A semi-truck and trailer, also headed west, tried to pass the spreader, but the two collided.

The semi driver, 71 year old Dallas Buhr of Eagle Grove, was taken by ambulance to the Sumner hospital. There was no word on his condition.

Buhr's 2021 Kenworth semi was totaled. The 2019 John Deere Spreader had $20,000 in damage. Buhr is being charged with Unsafe Passing.
