One person was arrested and one taken to the hospital, following a traffic accident in Fayette County.


It happened at about 10:30pm Friday (Dec. 11) on Harding Road near Garden Road, northeast of West Union. A pickup driven by 28 year old Blaine Everman of Elgin, went out of control, left the road, re-entered the road, and struck an SUV driven by 46 year old Stacie Cooper of Waukon.

Both vehicles were totaled. A passenger was taken to the West Union hospital with minor injuries.

Another passenger, 40 year old Amy Baker of Hawkeye, was arrested for Interference with Official Acts. She was held in the Fayette County jail until her initial court appearance. According to the Fayette County Sheriff, the accident is still under investigation, and more charges are expected.

The sheriff also reports, in a separate incident, that a Fort Atkinson man was taken into custody this (Monday) morning on an arrest warrant. 32 year old David Matthews is being held without bond, for Violation of Parole. The Winneshiek County Sheriff assisted Fayette County authorities.
