Authorities are investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead and two others injured in Waterloo.

The incident happened Saturday in the 1400 block of Grant Ave. Waterloo police and firefighters were dispatched to the area around 3:30 AM after witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Police said officers discovered a deceased male in an alley when they arrived. They also found two females who were hurt in the shooting.

The females were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police described their injuries as non-life-threatening.

Authorities did not immediately identify any the victims. Police said an autopsy on the man is pending.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in solving the crime. Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-4340.
