One Dead in Winneshiek County Accident

A Fort Atkinson man has died in a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County.

It happened at about 11:30am Monday (Dec. 2), on Highway 9, east of Highway 52 on the south side of Decorah.

A car driven by 79 year old Julius Frana pulled out from a stop sign, into the path of a truck driven by 41 year old Grant Linderbaum of Ossian.

The two vehicles collided; Frana was Medflighted to a LaCrosse hospital, but died of his injuries. Linderbaum was not hurt.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated; they were assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff, Decorah Police, Medflight, and Winneshiek Medical Center EMS.
