A Northeast Iowa man has lost his off-road utility vehicle to a fire.

Just before 4pm Friday (Oct. 20), the Fayette County Sheriff received a call reporting a U.T.V., or utility terrain vehicle, on fire, in the area of South Street, just west of Arlington.

67 year old David Aylsworth of Arlington was driving the UTV, when his passenger told him that she could smell smoke. After pulling the vehicle over, Aylsworth discovered it was on fire.

The blaze spread into the ditch, but was put out just in time to avoid spreading to an adjacent crop field.

No one was injured.

The 2016 Honda UTV was totaled.

The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted by the Arlington Fire Department.
