Oelwein Police have made several arrests on various assaults, and also for illegal drugs.

An Oelwein man has been arrested this morning (Monday, March 11) for allegedly assaulting a police officer. Following an incident in the 100 block of 6th Avenue SW, Oelwein Police took 23 year old Tyler Pollock into custody, on a charge of Assault on a Peace Officer, which is a serious misdemeanor. The incident happened at about 7:30am.

Oelwein Police are investigating a theft. Police received a call at about 9:30pm Sunday, that there was a theft in the 600 block of North Frederick Avenue. No other information was released, except that it is still under investigation.

Assault charges were filed on an Oelwein man Saturday morning. Shortly after 7am, after an incident in the 600 block of 4th Street SE, 20 year old Dwayne Morehead was taken into custody on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault.

A Hazleton man, arrested on an outstanding warrant from Black Hawk County, now also faces several illegal drug charges in Oelwein. At about 8:30pm Friday (March 8), 33 year old Shawn Hanson of Hazleton was taken into custody by Oelwein Police for a Parole Violation Warrant out of Black Hawk County. In the process of the arrest, Oelwein Police also charged Hanson with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of the Precursers: Pseudoephedrine and Ethyl Ether, ingredients used in making meth, and Prohibited Acts.

And at about 1am Saturday (March 9), Oelwein Police took 50 year old John Clark from Hazleton into custody, in the 10 block of 1st Avenue SE in Oelwein, on a Fayette County Sheriff's warrant for Domestic Abuse Assault.
