Oelwein Police Officers, this holiday season, will be lending a helping hand to those in need.  Thanks to a donation, from an anonymous Oelwein Police Department Employee, officers will be providing persons in need with a $20 Fareway gift card.  The intent is to provide a little gift to persons that could use some help purchasing food this holiday season.  Officers will be giving away 100 of the $20 food gift cards.

Officers will provide the cards to persons that they know are in need and the Northeast Iowa Community Action Center has kindly agreed to provide referrals, to their clients, to make contact with the department for assistance.

“The employees of the Oelwein Police Department are proud to serve this community and are pleased to give back to the community by helping those that need a little boost this time of year” advised Chief Jeremy Logan. “Our staff sees so much negativity and tragedy throughout the year and it is wonderful that we have this opportunity to hopefully brighten the day of some of our residents.”

The food gift cards will only be provided directly by officers to those that the department knows has a need or by direct referral from the Northeast Iowa Community Action Center.
