An Oelwein man has been arrested on an assault charge, involving a weapon.

Just before 1:30am Monday (Jan. 6), the Oelwein Police Department received a call, reporting an altercation at a residence in the 400 block of 5th Avenue SE. Responding officers then arrested 21 year old Nicholas Eickhoff, on a charge of Assault Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.

The Oelwein Police Department is investigation a theft incident on the southeast side of town. Officers were summoned at about 11:30am Friday, to the 300 block of 5th Avenue SE, to look into the incident.

A vandalism incident remains under investigation in Oelwein. Police were called at about 3:30am Saturday to the 100 block of 7th Street SE, on the report of Criminal Mischief.

And police have cited and Oelwein resident for Failure to Abate as Ordered. 45 year old Michelle Peti was given the citation, for a property in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue SW. The original abatement order was served in December.
