A local woman has been arrested after authorities were alerted of a house fire in Oelwein.


Shortly after 10:30 Wednesday morning (Oct. 25), Oelwein Police and Oelwein Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 10 block of 5th Avenue NE.

There was no word on the damages; no injuries were reported.

After an investigation into the cause, 23 year old Allyssa Garrison of Oelwein was arrested for 2nd Degree Arson, which is a Class "C" felony.

Oelwein police were called out Wednesday evening to a business in the 100 block of South Frederick on the report of a shoplifter. 48 year old Kimberly Schoultz of Oelwein was arrested on a charge of Theft-5th Degree.
