Oelwein Police have made arrests in the ongoing investigation into numerous break-in's and thefts in Oelwein.

 

While out on patrol recently, Oelwein Police officers spotted a suspicious person and vehicle near the 400 block of South Frederick.
During the investigation, officers discovered items reported stolen in a recent theft and burglary.

After questioning the suspects, police obtained search warrants, allowing them to find a large amount of stolen tools, clothing, wire and various other items. Those items have been connected to local burglaries, as well as break-in's in surrounding communities and counties.

Officers also located a stolen vehicle, taken from an Oelwein neighborhood. As a result of the investigation, Oelwein Police have arrested 32 year old Virgil McGuire of Cedar Rapids, 46 year old Anthony Nelson of Cedar Rapids, and 22 year old Jamie Fye of Kennett, Pennsylvania.

McGuire is charged with Burglary-3rd Degree, Operating without the vehicle owner's consent, and driving while barred.

Nelson faces charges of Theft-3rd Degree, Interference with official acts, trespass, Carrying weapons (a knife over 5 inches long), and a Linn County warrant for driving while barred and eluding.

And Fye is charged with Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Stolen Property, and Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner's Consent.
The investigation contiues and more charges are possible.
