Area residents craving pizza this week, are finding out that many of a famous franchise's restaurants are now closed, several here in Northeast Iowa, partially due to the pandemic.

A company that owns about 20% of the Pizza Hut franchises in the country, filed for bankruptcy, closing a total of 300 or more of their stores.

The company that owns the Pizza Hut brand then struck a restructuring deal, closing many restaurants that are dine-in businesses.
Since the pandemic began, Pizza Hut had been focusing on carry-out and delivery orders.

Pizza Hut restaurants in Northeast Iowa cities that closed Tuesday, include Oelwein, Independence, Dyersville, Manchester, Vinton, Grundy Center, as well as Iowa Falls, Dubuque, LeClaire, Newton, Tipton and Urbandale.
