New Year’s Arrests and an Accident in Oelwein

A local man has been arrested in Oelwein on a driving violation.

Shortly after 1am Tuesday (Jan. 3), Oelwein police performed a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Frederick. 20 year old Seth Rohrick of Oelwein was charged with Driving While Barred.

An Oelwein man faces charges in a New Year's day incident. Just after 2:30am, Oelwein police were called to a disturbance in the 200 block of 3rd Street NW. There, they arrested 40 year old Corey Conner on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault.

On Friday afternoon, Oelwein police received a report of vandalism in the 300 block of 6th Avenue SW. Responding officers located the suspect, 28 year old Troy Miller of Oelwein; he was taken into custody on charges of Violation of a Domestic No Contact Order, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, and Stalking, a Class "D" Felony. Miller also has a warrant out of Buchanan County.

And Oelwein police were called out to a traffic accident early New Year's Day in the ten block of 1st Avenue SE; just before 1am Sunday, a pickup driven by Bernice Schanbeck collided with a van driven by Debra Schellhorn. No injuries were reported.
