CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — A Netherlands-based manufacturer has chosen Cedar Falls in northeast Iowa as its first U.S. outpost.

Zuidberg Frontline Systems BV is based in Ens in the Netherlands. It makes tractor hitches, transmissions and other parts for heavy equipment. It will be opening a 10,000-square-foot facility in Cedar Falls for sales, warehousing and distribution, initially employing six people. The U.S. entity is known as Zuidberg North America Inc.

Its president, Rudolf de Jong, says the company chose Iowa over other Midwestern states and Cedar Falls over Des Moines for its first U.S. location. He says the company will move into its facility in June and plans to be fully operational by July 1.

De Jong says Zuidberg has 225 employees worldwide and had $85 million in sales last year.
