New Hampton Man Jailed After Incident at a Gas Station

An incident at a gas station in Elgin yesterday (Sept. 24), has resulted in the arrest of a New Hampton man on numerous charges.

At about 2:30pm Tuesday, the Fayette County Sheriff was alerted of a domestic assault and a car theft at Guppy's Gas Station in Elgin.

After conducting several interviews, deputies took 34 year old Jaylani Whiteside of New Hampton into custody. He faces charges of: Robbery 2nd degree, Domestic Assault causing injury, 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Suspended, and Interference with Official Acts.

Whiteside was being held in the Fayette County jail, until his initial court appearance.
