For a truly rim reminder of just how contagious the coronavirus is, look no further than Colonial Manor in Amana, where nearly all of the 42 residents in the nursing home have contracted COVID-19, according to the Gazette.

In just the past month, 36 of the 42 residents have tested positive for the virus. The first of these positive tests came on September 22. Fast forward, and the The Gazette reports that as of yesterday, Tuesday, 19 residents and 17 staff infected with the virus have recovered - which is great news.

Aside from the issues with COVID, Colonial Manor has received good marks from health officials. During a visit in mid 2019, the facility received only two health citations, well below the states average of six citations. As of Tuesday, there are 65 long-term care facilities across Iowa experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak according to the states tracking database. According to the Gazette, Colonial Manor tests for all staff and residents twice a week.
