DENVER, Iowa (AP) — Dozens of volunteers are working long days to build a playground in the northeast Iowa city of Denver.

About 70 people began work Wednesday morning and planned shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until an expected completion Sunday.

The new playground has been named Cyclone City.

Denver residents and businesses are loaning tools for the effort.

After planning the work for so many months, volunteer Jason Walters says actually beginning the construction was "like a celebration."

Many of the volunteers are from Denver High School, including some basketball team members recruited by coach Kyle Matthias.

Denver is a city of about 1,700 people, 15 miles north of Waterloo.
