NE Iowa Woman Pleads to False Home Invasion Reports
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa woman has denied allegations that she falsely reported two home invasions.
58-year-old Stephanie Settle, of Asbury, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to two counts of filing a false report.
The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says Settle told officers a man armed with a knife broke into her home in January, attacked her and stole about $15,000 worth of jewelry. On March 4 she reported that a man had attacked her in her garage and cut her face, neck, arms and chest.
The Sheriff's Office says investigation revealed inconsistencies in Settle's stories, prompting the charge.
