A Northeast Iowa school bus driver has been charged with causing an accident in rural Fayette County.
It happened just before 6pm Monday (Nov. 7) at the intersection of Harding Road and Garden Road, a few miles east of West Union.

A Valley Community School District bus driven by 77 year old Harold Hanson of Elgin, was traveling east, when he rear-ended a car that had slowed to make a turn at the intersection.

No one was injured, but there was $1,000 damage to the 2016 bus, and $2,000 damage to the car, a 2012 Ford Edge driven by 25 year old Krista Lane of Randalia.

Hanson, the bus driver, is being charged with Following too Closely. The accident was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
