DECORAH, Iowa (AP) — A judge has postponed the trial of a former Boone man charged with killing his wife in 2012 so he can help his 5-year-old daughter recover from a bone marrow transplant.

A judge on Thursday rescheduled the murder trial of 40-year-old Alexander Fazzino to April 13. It was originally scheduled to begin April 13, but Fazzino's attorney filed a request for a delay because Fazzino's daughter, Coco, has leukemia and is scheduled to undergo the transplant on March 31.  The trial was moved to Decorah on a change of venue request.

Fazzino is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Emily Fazzino, who was found dead on a bathroom floor at the couple's Boone home in January 2012. Authorities say Fazzino killed his wife because she wanted to divorce him.
