NE Iowa Mother of Five Charged

Oelwein Police have arrested a Hazleton woman on an outstanding warrant.

Shortly after 2pm Monday, officers took 29 year old Jonya Smith of Hazleton into custody in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE in Oelwein, on a Fayette County warrant.

The original charge was five counts of child endangerment.

Smith's boyfriend, 28 year old Joshua Steinbronn, is accused of locking Smith's five children in a bedroom in a house they shared in Westgate, for over 24 hours a day at a time, without food or access to a restroom. He is charged with five counts of false imprisonment.
