
NE Iowa Man Goes to Prison for Illegally Owning Guns
An Allamakee County man, jailed for federal gun charges, has now been sentenced to prison for nearly 2 years.
32 year old Mitchell Kubik of Harpers Ferry had been charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Kubik had been convicted in 2007 with a Felony Forgery charge, and was prohibited from owning a firearm.
He was also previously charged and convicted for Assault with Intent to Commit Sex Abuse in 2006, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in 2019.
During a search of Kubik's Harpers Ferry home, authorities seized a loaded .22 caliber Ruger 10-22 rifle.
Last week Kubik was sentenced in Federal Court in Cedar Rapids, to one year and 9 months in prison. He was also given 3 years of supervised release, after he finishes serving his prison sentence.
