NE Iowa Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident in Delaware County

A Northeast Iowa man has died in a fiery two-vehicle accident in Delaware County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened Tuesday night (Dec. 11), just before 7pm on U.S. Highway 20, near the intersection with County Road X-47, near the town of Delaware.

An eastbound van driven by 60 year old Russell Faust of Dyersville, rear-ended a semi that had just entered the eastbound lanes of the highway.

Faust's van then caught fire; Faust was trapped inside. He was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The semi driver, 54 year old Davis Steger of Colesburg, was not injured.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff, Delaware Police and Fire, the Iowa DNR, and the Iowa DOT.
