NE Iowa Man Dies in One-Car Accident in Allamakee County

A Lansing man has died in a one-vehicle accident in rural Allamakee County.

At about 11:15pm Monday (Feb. 18), the Allamakee County Sheriff received a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of Schweinfurth Road and Village Creek Road, northeast of Waukon.

A car driven by 52 year old Marty Melcher was traveling west on Schweinfurth Road, when he failed to stop at the intersection. Melcher's car went across Village Creek Road, entered a ditch, and crashed into a tree.

Melcher was taken to the Waukon hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Allamakee County Sheriff is still investigating the accident.
