NE Iowa Man Died When His Pickup Struck a Semi

A Northeast Iowa man has died in a traffic accident in Mitchell County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, it happened at about 1:30pm Friday (Jan. 29) at the intersection of Highway 218 and 320th Street, west of Orchard.

A pickup driven by 66 year old Steven Kapping of Osage, failed to yield at the stop sign, and was struck by a semi driven by 45 year old Darin Tusler of Osage.

Kapping died from his injuries; Tusler was not hurt.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, Floyd County Sheriff, Osage Fire Department, Mitchell County EMS, Floyd County Fire Department, and Iowa DOT.
