A Northeast Iowa man has been taken into custody for seriously injuring a child.

Last Friday (Oct. 17th) the Fayette County Sheriff was notified that a child had come to school with what appeared to be suspicious injuries.

The child was taken to the West Union hospital, where authorities determined he had sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Following the investigation, Fayette County authorities then arrested 37 year old Kenneth Becker Junior of Hawkeye on a charge of child endangerment causing serious injury. If convicted of the charge, Becker could face up to 5 years in prison.

Becker was released from jail after posting $10,000 bond.

The Department of Human Services was also contacted, and conducted an investigation. The child was then removed from the home, and placed with other family members.
