FREDERICKSBURG, Iowa (AP) — A Chickasaw County man originally charged with kidnapping has been sentenced after pleading guilty to reduced charges.

A Chickasaw County District Court judge sentenced 36-year-old Landon M. Riley of New Hampton, to up to five years in prison on each of the two counts of willful injury. The sentences will be served concurrently with one another. Two $750 fines were suspended.

Riley was arrested for second-degree kidnapping following an incident in Fredericksburg on Aug. 11.

Court document say that officers learned Riley had confined a woman, holding a gun pointed to her head. He had threatened to kill her over her attempt to end their relationship. Riley's additional actions and statements showed that he had intended to sexually assault the woman.
