Names Released in Fatality Involving Truck and 2 Motorcycles
Authorities have released the name of the victim of a fatal accident involving 2 motorcycles and a truck, in Johnson County.
It happened at about 5:30pm Wednesday (Aug. 8) on Interstate 80, east of Iowa City. A semi driven by 61 year old Bobby Stephen of Janesville, Wisconsin, ran into the back of two motorcycles that were slowing for another accident scene.
One of the motorcyclists, 63 year old John Harvey of Manor, Pennsylvania, died in the accident. The other cyclist, 72 year old Raymond Mitchell Jr. of Youngstown, Pennsylvania, was taken to University Hospitals for treatment, as was the truck driver.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
