Names Released in 3 Motorcycle Collision
Authorities have now released the names of the 3 motorcyclists who collided in Fayette County, while participating in the "Memorial Ride and Drive" awareness rally for Lyric and Elizabeth.
The accident happened at about 1pm Saturday (July 15), at the intersection of Highway 3 and "J" Avenue, north of Stanley.
The Fayette County Sheriff discovered three motorcycles collided and crashed to the ground.
Two riders were taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein; the most seriously injured biker, 67 year old Mitchel Tyler of Waterloo, was air lifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City, where he remains in serious condition.
The other injured rider, 63 year old Jerry McNamee of Waterloo, sustained minor injuries; he was treated and released.
The third cyclist, identified as 56 year old Brian Sampson of Waterloo, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
