Names Released in 2 Separate Allamakee County Deaths

The Allamakee County Sheriff has released the names of 2 Northeast Iowans who were killed in separate accidents on Sunday (May 6).

The first incident happened at about 1:30am, south of Dorchester, where a person had apparently fallen from a bridge on Orchid Drive.

38 year old Ryan Schulte of Waukon was identified as the victim; he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

No foul play is suspected.

The other incident happened nearly 12 hours later, just before 1:30pm, Sunday afternoon, along Forest Mills Road near Postville.

The Allamakee County Sheriff received a report of a man who was pinned under a tree.

An investigation determined that 65 year old Stephen Smith of Postville had been cutting down a tree at a residence, and the tree fell on top of him.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both deaths are still under investigation.
