Name Released of Bicyclist Killed in Central City

Authorities have now released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a motorist while riding his bicycle in Central City.

The accident happened at about 11pm on August 30 (last Thursday), at the intersection of Marion Road and Barber Street in Central City.

Emergency crews were called out on the report of a car versus pedestrian/bicycle accident.

A vehicle driven by 59 year old Melinda Lawrence of Central City struck 54 year old Jeffrey Scott, also of Central City, as he was riding his bicycle.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charges are pending; the incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's office.
