Authorities have released the name of an eastern Iowa man who died when his car rolled into a creek, trapping him inside.


62 year old Kevin Slater of Faifax was the driver of the vehicle that flipped over during a heavy downburst of rain, on Highway 30, north of Fairfax.

His car went out of control, entered the median, where it rolled numerous times. Slater's car ended up on it's top in Morgan Creek, with Slater trapped inside.

Slater was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, where he was later pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
