Name of Victim Released in Motorcycle/Van Fatality

We now know the name of the person killed, when their motorcycle collided with a van in rural Linn County.

It happened at about 2:30pm Saturday (Oct. 21), east of Springville, at the intersection of Highway 151 and Alderman Road.

A van driven by 56 year old James Vratney of Anamosa, crashed into a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 36 year old Wesley Nissen of Monticello.

According to the Linn County Sheriff, Nissen was not wearing a helmet. He was killed in the collision.

Vratney was not hurt.

The accident is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
