MARION, Iowa (AP) — Police have identified a woman who was killed in a grocery store parking lot in eastern Iowa.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Lynnsey Donald of Marion. Police say she died of apparent stab wounds Tuesday. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty says a 32-year-old Cedar Rapids man is suspected of assaulting Donald. He says they knew each other, but investigators weren't sure of their exact relationship.

Authorities say the man, who appeared to be suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds, was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing. Police say charges haven't been filed yet.
