Just this week I was able to take a break and head to the The Grand Theater in Oelwein for a movie.  I wouldn't call it a "chick flick" but a great "date night" movie.  For me, it mixed the movie "8 Seconds" with "The Notebook" and I loved it.  I will buy this movie to add to my collection and I will watch it with my pre-teen daughter.

Here's my take on the movie.  Two love stories generations apart, but nearly identical.  Each couple trying to find themselves, each other and balance all of that with two different careers in the real world.  While I enjoyed the balance of the lives some 60 years apart, I would have enjoyed a little more of the story line focused on the new couple.  But, it's not my story to tell and I didn't write, direct or even act in the movie, I just got to enjoy the finished product.

My review "The Longest Ride":  Story line ++++ 4 Stars, Could have had more focus on the young couple;    Originality   +++ 3 stars, I thought it was a lot like "The Notebook" just a different title;    Soundtrack:  +++ 3 Stars, none of the songs stuck out or where still in my head the next day;   Bonus Points were given for Sophie (the female of the young couple) falling in the pond and for Luke (the male of the young couple & Clint Eastwood's son) having old fashioned values-wanting to pick Sophie up at her house for the first date.

I say, go see this movie or grab a some snacks and watch it at home, but do watch the movie and share it with someone you love.
