Authorities have released the name of a West Virginia man who died when his motorcycle collided with a DOT traffic control device in rural Linn County.
It happened shortly after 11am Friday (Aug. 12) on Interstate 380, north of Center Point.

60 year old Terry Spencer of Milton, West Virginia, was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle south on the interstate, when he hit a stationary Iowa Department of Transportation crash attenuator, which had been pulled by a maintenance vehicle; the device was being used to divert traffic from the right lane, into the left lane at that location.

Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The accident is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
