Motorcycle Kills Deer, Riders Taken to Hospital

The Linn County Sheriff is investigating an accident involving a motorcycle and a deer, that sent two to the hospital.

Shortly after 8pm Tuesday, authorities got a report of a motorcycle that collided with a deer on Ely Road, just north of Wright Brothers Boulevard, near Ely.

A Harley-Davidson driven by 44 year old Gregory Tarca of Hiawatha, struck a deer, causing him to lose control, and lay the bike down.

Tarca and his passenger, 50 year old Jerri Tarca, were taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, with non-life threatening injuries. They were not wearing helmets.

According to the Linn County sheriff, the deer was killed on impact.
