Motion Rejected: Bachelor Farmer Case Goes On
A Northeast Iowa judge has rejected a motion to dismiss charges against former TV bachelor Chris Soules, accused of leaving the scene of a fatal accident between his pickup and a neighbor's tractor.
The accident happened April 24 north of Aurora in Buchanan County; Soule's pickup rear-ended a farm tractor driven by 66 year old Kenneth Mosher of rural Aurora. Mosher died from his injuries.
Soules had called authorities to notify them of the accident, but then left. He was later located at his home in rural Arlington, where he was arrested. Soules has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Soules' attorney claims he notified law enforcement and emergency workers as required before he left, and that the charge should be thrown out.
However on Monday, Judge Kellyann Lekar ruled that the motion is moot on procedural grounds, and that there is enough evidence for the case to proceed.
She then set May 23rd for an arraignment.
Soules starred in "The Bachelor" television series, and was a participant on "Dancing with the Stars".
