Mother Nature officially has a deadline!

She's been making it really tough to want to start enjoying our favorite outdoor seasonal activities and events, but the good news is, that's not stopping them from being planned!

Surely, by May 27 our hopes and dreams for consistent sunny and warm weather will become a reality, as that will mark the first night of family fun with the 2022 "Moonlit Movies" series from the Marion Parks & Recreation Department at Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park.

According to Iowa's News Now, the events will include free kids’ activities like face painting, balloon twisting, and inflatables to begin at 7 p.m. Stick around for the FREE family movie starting at 8:30-ish p.m., a.k.a. dusk. Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the lineup of movies:

  • Friday, May 27: “Sing 2”
  • Friday, July 8: “Cruella”
  • Friday, Aug. 5: “Encanto”

Outside food and drinks are welcome, but the event will have select food vendors on site. FREE popcorn from the Shriners' Popcorn Mobile!

Parking is available in three hard-surface lots, as well as marked overflow areas in the grass. Sorry, no pets are allowed. :-( It's also a smoke-free, tobacco-free, and nicotine-free event.

Don't forget, Iowa's drive-in theaters are welcoming you back for shows this season as well if you'd rather stay in the car.

I repeat: Mother Nature, you are officially on notice.
