Several recent traffic accidents have been reported in Fayette County.

The sheriff's office notes that at about 10pm Sunday (June 6) deputies were called to an accident involving a vehicle and a deer. It happened on 190th Street, about 4 miles south of Hawkeye. A truck driven by 29 year old Ceara Steege of Randalia was westbound when a deer ran out onto the road and was struck. No one was injured, and there was $1,500 in damage.

Also on Sunday, just before 3:30am, Fayette County authorities got a report of a one-vehicle accident on Highway 93, west of Fayette. 20 year old Tyler Melban was eastbound in a pickup, when he lost control, entered a ditch, and hit a guard rail. No one was hurt, but Melban's 2013 Ford F-150 was totaled. The accident is still under investigation.

On June 1st, just before 10pm, the Fayette County Sheriff was called out to an accident between a truck and a deer, on Highway 18, north of Hawkeye. 28 year old Roman Hertrampf of Fort Atkinson, was driving east when a deer ran out onto the highway. No one was hurt, but the accident totaled his 2003 Chevy Truck.

And on May 29, just after 2:30pm, the Fayette County Communications Center received a report of a one-vehicle rollover on 18th Street, just east of Oelwein. 18 year old Patrick Twaites of Oelwein was driving north, when his 2001 Honda Accord went out of control, entered the ditch, and rolled onto it's roof. Injuries were minor, and Twaites was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
