Miranda Lambert's birthday is this Sunday (Nov. 10), and she's eager to celebrate with husband Brendan McLoughlin ... as long as she gets to plan it.

"It's hard for me to give up control," Lambert says sheepishly.

The soon-to-be 36-year-old visited with Taste of Country Nights to talk about her new Wildcard album, but the conversation turned to her upcoming birthday — her first since she and McLoughlin married in January. Lambert says these days she prefers a bonfire with friends over going out to bars and clubs. On Nov. 9, she'll be in Orlando, Fla., for a concert and won't arrive home until about noon on Sunday.

“He’s like, ‘Let me plan it’ and I’m like ‘Ummm, OK?’” Lambert says, smiling.

Hosts Evan Paul and Amber then ask if he's let her down before.

“Well, we’re still new so I haven’t let him plan anything yet," she admits. "Girls are planners. That’s all. I trust him, he’s super together. He’s more together than me, he’s organized but —"

Wildcard is Lambert's seventh studio album, released on Nov. 1. In addition to her single "It All Comes Out in the Wash," the project includes 13 self-written songs that are noticeably more playful than her last record, the double album The Weight of These Wings (2016).

Lambert is currently on the Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour, which runs through November. her Wildcard Tour begins in January. Look for her to perform at the 2019 CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 13).
