Minivan Hits 2 Boys, One Seriously Hurt
The Johnson County Sheriff is investigating an accident from late Monday night, that put a pedestrian in the hospital with serious injuries.
Just after 10:30pm Monday (July 11), authorities were called to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash, involving multiple pedestrians, just south of Iowa City on Dane Road, south of the bridge that crosses Highway 218.
When deputies arrived, they determined that 3 juvenile males were walking on Dane Road, when two of the boys were struck by a minivan driven by Julia Elgatian of Iowa City, who was driving home from work.
One of the boys sustained life-threatening injuries; he was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals. The other boy who was injured was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital. The third boy was not hurt.
The Johnson County Sheriff is trying to determine why the three boys were in the road, and how the crash happened.
