Man Seriously Hurt When Pickup Collides with Pole

A Northeast Iowa man is recovering from serious injuries, after his pickup slammed into a utility pole.

It happened at about 11pm Thursday (Aug. 15) on Highway 150, south of Independence. A pickup driven by Jon Zieser of Independence was southbound, when his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole.

Zieser was extricated from the wreckage, and taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. There is no word on his current condition.

The accident remains under investigation by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, and charges are pending.
