Man Dies in 2 Semi Collision in Clayton County

A two-vehicle accident at a rural Clayton County intersection has taken the life of a Robins, Iowa man.

It happened just before 9am Thursday (March 19), at the intersection of Highways 52 and 18, just west of Giard.

A northbound semi, driven by 30 year old Delancy Miell of Robins, went through the stop sign, colliding with a semi driven by 59 year old Michael Trenkler of Woodstock, Illinois.

The collision caused the separation of the trailers on both semi-tractors.
Miell died from his injuries. Trenkler was taken to the Elkader hospital by Monona Ambulance, to be treated for unspecified injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clayton County Sheriff, Monona EMS, Farmersburg Fire Department, and First Responders.
